VADON, Géza Born 1884 Nyüved, died 1979 Budapest Hungary. Pupil of G. Varady in his Grosswardein Violin Making School, Budapest 1923-1927. Also studied with F. Bikszegi up to 1928. Passed his master’s examination in 1936. Neat professional work on Stradivari-derived models with yellow-orange oil varnish. Around 160 violins, 35 violas, and two cellos completed. None of these were sold during the maker’s own lifetime. Author of Hangszerész (vonós) szakmai ismeret (Budapest, 1975); (Technical Information for Makers of Bowed Instruments).
