John Dilworth
VAILLANT, Nicolas Born 1808 Mirecourt, died 1887 Bordeaux France. Initially a guitar maker in Mirecourt. Moved to Bordeaux c.1825 to take over the business of one Lutzemberger and thereafter known as Nicolas de Bordeaux. Violins and cellos with his label almost certainly made in commercial workshops in Mirecourt. His shop was taken over by A. Delannoy in 1880. Large model with red varnish.
