VERLE, Francesco Worked circa. 1570-1600 Padua Italy. Possibly the same individual as Franz Wörle, born in Vils. Worked in Padua 1570-1600. Henley describes high-arched narrow-waisted violins with small scrolls, short wide soundholes, and brown varnish, but this is not supported elsewhere. Work not presently known; almost certainly a lute- rather than a violin-maker, the name or label possibly transferred to violins at a later date. In Padova / Francesco Verle
