Graduated from business school in Geneva before attending the Mittenwald School of Violin Making. Subsequently worked for Boulangeot in Lyons, returning briefly to Geneva before studying repair and restoration with Caressa in Paris. Elected President of the Swiss Violin Makers Group in 1952. Author (with Alfred) of Un Violoncelle de Stradivarius (Geneva, 1940). Sole author of Georges Chanot (Geneva, 1974) and Quelques considerations sur l’archet et les archetiers Français (Geneva, 1958).
