John Dilworth
VINCENT, Alfred Born 1877, died 1947 London UK. First violin at His Majesty’s Theatre and violin maker. Active in London from 1902. Later assisted by his brother. Awarded first prize at the Cobbett Competition, London 1923. Established in Great Pulteney Street London from 1927. Completed over 300 instruments, including a quartet bequeathed to the Royal Academy of Music, London. A good number of his production based on part-finished instruments imported from European factories. Fine professional workmanship on Stradivari model with pale gold or deeper red-brown varnish.
