Biographies
John Dilworth
Carl Hermann Born 1850 Markneukirchen, died 1925 Vienna Austria. Pupil of O. Bausch as a bow maker before joining Nemessanyi in Budapest 1867. Worked in Vienna for Lemböck 1871. Established independently in Nüssdorferstrasse, Vienna from 1876. Subsequently took over the shop of C. F. Schmidt. Appointed luthier to the Viennese court and made president of the Austrian guild of violin makers. Retired in 1910, passing his business on to G. Rauer. Several medals awarded. Fine copies of the Stradivari 1714 ‘Dolphin’ violin with appropriately coloured varnish. Also violas, cellos, double basses and bows in various grades.
