VOLLER, Alfred Born 1856 London, died 1918 Salcombe, Devon UK. Cellist and violin maker. Served in the Royal Navy c.1876-1881. Recorded as a ‘perfumer’s assistant’ in 1881. Also active violin maker from c.1881, living and working with his brothers Charles and William, below. Recorded in all documents as a musician, his violin making activities were largely kept discreet as a large proportion of the brothers’ work involved copies and forgeries of classical instruments.
