WERENTLE, Francis Worked circa. 1746 London UK. Presumed to be a member of the Werendle/Wörnle family of Mittenwald, in which case he represents an important link between the two similar schools of work in London and Germany. Fine work on Stainer model, allied to Thomas Smith or John Johnson in style. Large model. Broad prominent white centre to purfling. Good quality golden-brown varnish. Very rarely seen.
