WHITE, Asa Warren Born 1826 Barre, died 1893 Boston, Massachusetts USA. Son and pupil of John White, below. Worked for Henry Prentiss and entered into a partnership with his brother Ira in Boston 1849-1863. Later employed Calvin Baker and Orrin Weeman. Stradivari, Guarneri, and some Maggini models. Golden-brown varnish. Prolific maker of violins, viols, cellos, and viols. Author of The Violin: How To Construct From Beginning To Completion (Boston,1892).
