John Dilworth
WHITTAKER, John Born 1776, died 1847 London UK. Presumed son of Maurice Whittaker, below. Organist and composer. Established in St. Paul’s Churchyard and successor to the Thompson workshop. Associated with Button from 1808 as music publisher and retailer. The business was variously known as Button, Whittaker & Breadnell and Button & Co., but from 1820 simply Whittaker & Co. Many trade instruments found with his label. Ordinary work, generally unpurfled, on various models.
