John Dilworth

ZÜST, J. Emil Born 1864 St. Gallen, died 1946 Zurich Switzerland. Pupil of W. Marks in Munich. Subsequently worked in Olten, Linz, Wiesbaden, Strasbourg, Kreuznach, and Hildersheim. Established independently in Zurich from1893. Head of the Swiss violin makers guild 1927. Important and influential maker and expert. Violins, violas, and cellos accurately worked on Guarneri model with rich transparent varnish of appropriate shades. Also made fine quality bows. J. E. Züst / Geigenmacher / fecit anno 19 Ejz Zurich.
