Why insure on a specialist valuation

Insurers need a figure they can rely on. If an instrument is underinsured, a claim may not cover the cost of replacing it. If it is overinsured, you pay more each year than you need to.

A written valuation from a specialist gives you and your insurer a clear, documented figure.

Insurance value is not auction value

An insurance valuation is usually what it would cost to replace the instrument by buying a similar one from a dealer. That is normally higher than what the same instrument would fetch at auction. We will tell you which kind of valuation you need, and if you are thinking of selling, we can tell you the auction value as well.

What you get

  • A formal written valuation for each instrument and bow, with a description.
  • A clear statement of the basis of the valuation, for your insurer.
  • A fee agreed before we start.
