BRECKINBRIDGE, John Born 1790, died 1840 Parkhead, Glasgow, Scotland UK. Amateur maker of some merit, favouring an Amati model. Pale golden-brown or yellow spirit varnish, rather thin but attractive. Neat, narrow edges, soundholes upright and close to the edge in Dutch fashion. Eccentric head in the manner of Ford. William Meredith Morris

An amateur maker who made several excellent violins on the Amati model. The wood is of splendid quality, nicely figured, and the varnish pale brown or yellow. The tone is round, clear, and sweet. Label, handwritten : —

Willibald Leo Lütgendorff

Er war von Hause aus Weber und besass später einen Krämerladen; dabei machte er fleissig Geigen, die recht gut nach Amati gebaut sind. Sein (Spiritus-)Lack ist gelb oder dunkelbraun. Der Ton ist angenehm, aber nicht gross.
