LABERTE Frères, LABERTE et MAGNIÉ Worked from 1780 Mirecourt France. Founded in 1780, one of the largest and most important businesses in Mirecourt. Known as Laberte Frères until 1925 when the company amalgamated with Fournier Magnié. The latter had been founded in 1775 by Joseph Thiriot, continued by Alexis Thiriot 1786-1840, Bauer-Bordet to 1872, and finally Charles Drouin. Staffed by many good craftsmen (including Brugère, Poirson, the Somny brothers, Claude, Grandidier, Voirin, and Genin) Laberte et Magnié provided fine instruments and bows in the great French tradition and took over the interests of the other well-established Mirecourt houses, including Nicolas and Derazey. Branded internally: ‘L. H. F.’ Laberte Humbert Frères / 1922. Mirecourt. No. 850. / Exposition Internationale. Bruxelles 1910. / Grand Prix.
