Philipp Paul Nürnberger, elder son of Franz Albert Nürnberger II, trained in the family workshop and worked alongside his younger brother Carl Albert, with whom he carried the firm on after their father’s death in 1931.

Maker Overview
Life
Between them the two brothers refined the house Tourte into something recognisably the family’s own rather than a French model copied, and through the 1920s the workshop reached a level of consistency that no other German shop matched at that volume. Bows from those years are the high point of the family’s output.
He died in 1946, at the end of the worst decade the Markneukirchen trade has known.

Philipp Paul Born 1882, died 1946. Bow maker. Son and pupil of Franz Albert Nürnberger (II), above. Established independently from 1897. Very fine work in the tradition of his father. Mostly on classical French models, but personal models also.
