Biographies

John Dilworth

PECCATTE, François Born 1821, died 1855 Mirecourt France. Younger brother of Dominique, above. Trained in Mirecourt but joined his brother in Paris c.1840-1842. May have worked briefly for J. R. Lafleur, but returned to Mirecourt 1842. Established a thriving workshop there employing 8-10 craftsmen. Influenced strongly by his brother in later years, after Dominique was himself separately established in Mirecourt from 1847. His business continued while he briefly returned to Paris to work for J. B. Vuillaume 1852-1853, but his last bows are weak. Round sticks. Branded: PECCATTE, rarely with PARIS on the opposite side. [Millant/Raffin]
