BEARE, Arthur Born 1875 Norbury, died 1945 Watford UK. Son and assistant of John Beare, below. Trained as a violinist in Liepzig before joining his father’s business c.1890. Became known as the best bridge cutter in London, with a high reputation for adjusting and setting-up instruments for sound. His knowledge of antique instruments contributed immensely to the status of the company. Under his leadership it moved to 164 Wardour Street and in 1929 to 179. After his death the company was run by his son William.
