BRENNER, Carl Henrik Born 1751 Stockholm, died 1828 Gavle Sweden. Last of a Swedish noble family. Music teacher in Gavle. Made several instruments of original conception, but only moderately good craftsmanship. Varnish good, well-coloured but a little thin. Viola dated 1788 in the Stockholm Music Museum of viol form, large open soundholes and curiously shaped scroll, the pegbox slender, with the volute small and oval, projecting far above it. Instruments signed under the back button. Also known from repair labels. [Nilsson]
