John Dilworth

CLÉMENT, Jean Laurent Born 1783 Mirecourt, Worked 1810-1848 Paris France. Established workshop at 16 rue des Petits Champs, Paris 1810-1848. Some labels give the address as rue St-Orge or rue des Bons-Enfants. Employed Georges Chanot, Augière, Calot, and Thomassin, and enjoyed reputation as a leading authority. The workshop produced fine instruments in the current Parisian style after Lupot. Medal winner at Paris Exhibitions 1823 and 1827. Also made guitars, some highly decorated.
