CUYPERS, Johannes Bernardus Born 1781, died 1840 The Hague Netherlands. Son of Johannes Theodorus Cuypers, below, and younger brother of Johannes Franciscus. A lesser maker than his father or brother. Some of his own instruments are made independently of the family workshop and bear his own handwritten label or a signature applied directly on the wood of the back. Some have a more conventional scroll than the usual oval form on Cuypers workshop instruments and a thicker orange-brown varnish. John: Bernardus Cuypers / fecit ‘s Hage 1810
