Pupil of Buthod. From 1877 worked for J. B. Vuillaume in Paris. Took over the atelier of N. Vaillant in rue Cadillac, Bordeaux 1880. Employed Louis Poiret and Marcel Lapouge. Passed the business to Lapouge in 1922. Won gold medal and diploma at Bordeaux Exhibition 1907. — John Dilworth

Schüler von Buthod, arbeitete drei Jahre lang bei Vuillaume und wurde 1880
Nicolas Vaillant’s Nachfolger in Bordeaux. Er baut nach den Traditionen von
J. B. Vuillaume’s Werkstatt, den er als seinen eigentlichen Lehrer ansieht,
copirt ein Stradivari-Modell und verwendet Vuillaume’schen Öllack. Seine
Arbeit zeichnet sich durch Genauigkeit und künstlerische Durchführung aus,
wesshalb er auch mehrere goldene Medaillen erhielt. Er ist ein erfahrener
Kenner alter Instrumente, mit denen er Handel treibt. Er erfand auch eine
den Bedürfnissen der Colonien entsprechende Geige.
