DUCHAINE, Nicolas (II) Born 1772, died 1840 Mirecourt France. Bow maker. Son, pupil, and assistant of Nicolas Duchaine (I), above. Similar work to that of his father, with the same brand. According to Millant, in the period c.1805-1810 his work became more modern, the heads losing the rearward projecting backplate and the frogs becoming lower, but it appears he never used the ferrule or silver button of the Tourte model.
