Pupil of Otto Jaeger in Frankfurt 1894-1898. Subsequently worked in Mannheim for H. Kessler and in Nuremberg for R. Heberlein. Senior assistant to A. Wilfer in Leipzig from 1900, before establishing his own business there in 1921. Succeeded by his son Joachim in 1956. Stradivari and Guarneri models. — John Dilworth
