Mario and Gaetano Gadda
Mantua
Gaetano Gadda (1900–1956) was an Italian violin maker from Mantua, trained under Stefano Scarampella. His son, Mario Gadda (b. 1931), apprenticed with him and later continued the family workshop. From the early 1950s until Gaetano’s death, they collaborated on violins, violas, and cellos, often labeled “Gaetano & Mario Gadda.” Their instruments are noted for exceptional craftsmanship and tonal quality, reflecting the Italian luthiery tradition. After 1956, Mario continued producing instruments under his own name.
