HJORTH, Emil Born 1840, died 1920 Copenhagen Denmark Son, pupil, and successor of Johannes Hjorth, below. Worked for Lembock in Vienna 1863, Bernadel in Paris 1864, and in London for two years. Instrument repairer to the royal orchestra in Denmark. Stradivari and Guarneri models, violins, violas, and cellos with fine oil varnish. Succeeded by his two sons, Othon and Knud. Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+

Sohn, Schüler und seit 1865 Geschäftsnachfolger von Johannes Hj. Er arbeitete 1869 in London, 1863 bei Gabriel Lemböck in Wien und 1864 bei Bernardel
père in Paris. Er macht hauptsächlich Violoncelli nach Stradivari und
Guarneri und ist ein gesuchter Reparateur. Sein Öllack ist recht gut. Auch
betreibt er einen ausgedehnten Handel mit altitalienischen Instrumenten und fabricirt gute Saiten. 1880 wurde er zum Instrumentenmacher für die kgl. Kapelle ernannt. Auch seine
Söhne Otto und Knud sind Geigenmacher geworden und arbeiten bei ihm.
