KOMAROMY, Sándor Born 1889, died 1950 Budapest Hungary. Apprenticed to Andras Bergmann 1903-1906. Subsequently worked for Otto Karl Zimmer and Stowasser in Budapest, for Béla Babós in Hermannstadt, and Nándor Hock in Rákospalota. Established independently in Budapest from 1917. Credited with over 100 instruments, including all bowed strings and several forms of plucked instrument. Stainer and Cremonese models with spirit varnished in various shades. Fine professional workmanship. Branded on lower rib: ‘Komaromy S.’. Manuscript label: Keszitette / Komaromy Sandor / heged keszito / Budapest 1921. Opus 28. [Benedek]
