James N Mckean

James N. McKean (b. 1950s) is an American violin, viola, and cello maker based in New York. A graduate of the Violinmaking School of America (1977), he apprenticed with Vahakn Nigogosian before opening his own workshop in the early 1980s. He has built over 200 instruments, including more than 100 cellos, and has received awards from the Violin Society of America and the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers, where he also served as president.
