MENZIES, John Worked circa. 1820-1834 Falkirk, Scotland UK. Associated with Daniel Dewar of Edinburgh. Small output. Very interesting work. Large model showing Guadagnini characteristics; also influenced by Matthew Hardie. Flat edges, extended lower wings to soundholes, slightly pinched but low arch. Some instruments are purfled only on the table. Distinctive scroll; rather narrow across the eyes. Very good professional workmanship throughout with fine red-brown varnish and good materials.
