MILNE, Patrick Gordon Born 1873, Worked from 1896 Aberdeen, died 1949 Glasgow, Scotland UK. Son of Peter Milne, below. Established in Aberdeen from 1896, initially at 11 Windmill Brae, after 1898 at 10 Back Street and after 1812 in Guild Street. Moved to Glasgow 1920. Credited with about 70 instruments, some imported in the white and varnished by him. Inconsistent work, some on good Cremonese models with fine materials, but with a dark, thick and often deeply crazed oil varnish. Others have various shades and qualities of spirit varnish. Continued to use his Aberdeen label after moving to Glasgow, merely striking out ‘Aberdeen’ and inserting ‘Glasgow’ by hand. Branded on lower rib. Made by / Patrick G. Milne / Aberdeen 19.. [Rattray]
