Moinel & Cherpitel
Charles Moinel (1866–1945) was a French violin maker active in Paris. Son and pupil of François Moinel, he also trained with Émile Germain. In 1893 he succeeded his uncle Nicolas-Émile Cherpitel, continuing the Paris workshop before formally adopting the name Moinel-Cherpitel in 1899. He was known for finely made instruments based on classical Italian models, typically finished with red-brown varnish over a golden ground. He later retired to Voulangis, where he continued working.
