MOLLISON, George Worked circa. 1760-1770 Aberdeen, Scotland UK. Probably assistant to John Ruddiman. May also have worked as a baker in the city. Three violins cited by Rattray: two dated 1764 and another of 1769. Small model with short corners and upright soundholes quite close to the edges. Scroll with deep throat and tightly turned volute; two examples with the pegbox sides slightly fluted. Signed internally: ‘Geo Mollison / Maker’. Printed label: Georgius Mollison fecit / Abredaeis 1764 [Rattray]
