John Dilworth
PHILLIPS, Benjamin F. Born 1886 Warsaw Poland, died 1977 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. Trained in Poland. Emigrated to the USA 1902. Employed by Gustave Francois 1908-1918. Established independently in Pittsburgh from 1923. About 150 violins, 25 violas, and two cellos on Stradivari and Guarneri models using own oil varnish. Fine workmanship. Awards at New York Competition 1941. [Wenberg]
