John Dilworth
Thomas Born 1702, Worked Prague Czech Republic, d. after 1746 Wroclaw (Breslau) Poland. Son of Sebastian Rauch (I). Assumed to be a pupil of Thomas Edlinger. Moved from Prague to Wroclaw c.1737. Early work much in the style of Edlinger. Stainer model. High arched with very dark red-brown varnish. Fine viola d’amore in Heyer Collection, Cologne with carved female head, labelled: Thomas Rauch, Lauten und Geigen- / macher in Breslau anno 1739
