Reinhold Schnabl
Maker Overview
Reinhold Schnabl was a German master violin maker (Geigenbaumeister), born in Tirna, Czechoslovakia (Sudetenland), and displaced with his family after WWII to Bubenreuth, Bavaria. From 1973 he worked at Roderich Paesold, overseeing production of the Andrew Schroetter stringed instrument line (distributed by Boosey & Hawkes), before opening his own workshop in 1985.
He won a silver medal for violin at the 1980 Wiesbaden competition and a bronze medal for a Guarneri-model violin at Cremona in 1982.
His son, Wolfgang Schnabl, continues the family workshop today.
