John Dilworth
GATTI, Giorgio Born 1847 Chieri, died 1936 Turin Italy. Established in Turin from 1890. Self-taught maker, possibly with the guidance of E. Marchetti. Workshop at 26 Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Stradivari model. Accurate work, red varnish with crackled texture. Principally a guitar maker. Branded internally: ‘Giogio Gatti Torino Corso Vitt. Em.26’ Giorgio Gatti / fece in Torino l’anno 1899
