Life
French bow-making workshop of Paris. Founded by Joseph Alfred Lamy (1850–1919), known as Lamy père, and continued with the assistance of his sons Hippolyte Camille Lamy (1875–1942) and Georges Léon Lamy (1881–1915). The workshop followed the Vuillaume–Voirin tradition and produced highly regarded violin, viola and cello bows. Joseph Alfred Lamy became one of the most influential French bow makers of his generation, with his style influencing Eugène Sartory and later makers. Hippolyte Camille continued the family atelier after 1919, while Georges Léon contributed to the workshop before his early death during the First World War. The Lamy name remains among the most respected in French bow making.
