HILLERT, Arthur Wilhelm Born 1869 Dresden, Worked from 1924 Berlin Germany. Established in Mittweida, Saxony from 1893, then in Leipzig from 1909, and finally in Berlin 1924. Stradivari, Amati, Stainer, and personal models. Own golden brown varnish. Made violins, violas, cellos, double basses, and plucked instruments. Heavily inscribed with pencil on top and bottom plates: ‘A.W.H.B.L’ Arthur Hillert / Geigenbau- und Reparaturwekstatt / Mittweida i. S. Geigen- u Lautenbauer / Hillert Wilh. Hillert / Geigenbaumeister / Berlin
