Franco Albanelli

Bologna

Franco Albanelli (1933–2007) was an Italian violin maker from Castel San Pietro Terme, active in Bologna. A pupil of Gaetano Pollastri, he produced fewer than 40 instruments, mainly violins with some violas and cellos. His work reflects the Bolognese tradition, notable for its red-to-orange varnish. He received recognition during his career, including a gold medal at Bagnacavallo in the 1960s.
