BAZIN, René Born 1902, died 1982 Mirecourt France. Bow maker. Son and pupil of Louis, above, in bow making. Apprenticed to A. Dieudonne in violin making. Worked for Vatelot in Paris, Darche in Brussels, then established in Lille in 1929. Prisoner of war from 1940, and worked for Hamma in Stuttgart 1943-1945. Employed by Vatelot in Paris briefly, but returned to Stuttgart in 1946 to run the Hamma workshop. Violins of Stradivari model with red-orange oil varnish, also fine bows. [Millant/Raffin]
