Established first at Campi Bisenzio, near Florence, from 1899 as a maker of plucked instruments. Later established at 8 Via San Elisabetta, Florence, where he diversified into violins. Instruments not well made, with very crude outline and flat arching. Decent varnish of brown or dark red colour. — John Dilworth

CASINI, Serafino Born 1863, died 1947 Florence Italy. Established first at Campi Bisenzio, near Florence, from 1899 as a maker of plucked instruments. Later established at 8 Via San Elisabetta, Florence, where he diversified into violins. Instruments not well made, with very crude outline and flat arching. Decent varnish of brown or dark red colour. Several violins made by him from wood taken from a demolished 16th century church in Florence. Branded on button: ‘S. C.’.
