By Cecie Stainer

A maker in Paris 1783-1840, rue des Bonnes-Enfants. His violins are now much valued by amateurs, although it is said that he did little work himself, but employed clever workmen, such as Georges Chanot. Augiere, Calot, and Thomassin. His work is beautifully finished and artistic, he used red-brown varnish with good effect. He exhibited in 1823 and 1827 and received a bronze medal.
