Bow maker, active in London from c.1770, already aged 65. Established at 11 Paradise Road, Lambeth; later at Salisbury Court off Fleet Street. Prolific worker, largely employed in supplying other shops and dealers in London with unbranded bows, so much of his output is uncredited. — John Dilworth

John Dilworth+

DODD, EDWARD (I) Born 1705 Northumberland , died 1810 Lambeth, London UK. Bow maker, active in London from c.1770, already aged 65. Established at 11 Paradise Road, Lambeth; later at Salisbury Court off Fleet Street. Prolific worker, largely employed in supplying other shops and dealers in London with unbranded bows, so much of his output is uncredited.

William Meredith Morris+

He died in London at the extreme old age of 105. He lived in Salisbury Court, Fleet Street, and was buried in St. Bride’s Churchyard. He made much improvement upon the form of bows in use in this country before his time.

Cecie Stainer+

b. 1705, Sheffield; d. 1810, London, at the age of 105. He was the first bow maker of this name and did a great deal towards improving the English bow. He lived in Salisbury Court, Fleet Street, where he died, and was buried in St. Bride’s Church.

Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
