DUNCAN, James (II) Born 1878 Dunfermline, d.c.1951 Kirkcaldy, Scotland UK. Cabinet maker and amateur violin maker. Active in Dunfermline from 1896; moved to Kirkcaldy in 1919. Nine violins on Stradivari model recorded from his Dunfermline period, Guarneri models later produced in Kirkcaldy. Developed a unique method for artificially ageing the wood.
