John Dilworth
JAURA, Wilhelm Thomas Theodor Born 1863, died 1922 Vienna Austria. Eldest son of Wilhelm Josef Jaura; a guitar maker. Worked for W. T. Gutermann for 21 years. Established independently from 1898. Luthier to the Viennese court and respected member of the Violin Makers’ Guild. Recognized as the leading expert connoisseur in Vienna. Awarded various decorations and medals. Finely worked copies of classical Italian instruments with good oil varnish. Credited with 300 violins, 80 violas and 150 cellos. Wilhelm Thomas Jaura / in Wien fecit anno 18..
