John Dilworth

JEANDEL, Pierre Napoléon Born 1810 Courcelles-sous-Vaudemont, died 1878 Rouen France. Pupil of Charotte in Mirecourt from 1830, moved to Rouen 1835 to work with Joseph Charotte, succeeding to his business 1848 in partnership with Lucien Delau. The shop subsequently moved from 36 Beauvoisine to 51 quai de Paris. Awards at Rouen and Paris expositions. Large flat-arched Mirecourt model with heavy red-brown varnish over yellow ground. Signed internally: ‘Jeandel’

Cecie Stainer

b. 1812, Courcelles-sous-Vaudemont (Meurthe); d. May 10, 1879, Rouen. Apprenticed at Mirecourt; went to Rouen, worked under Charotte of Mirecourt, 1830-36 ; then, in partnership with Lucien Delau, succeeded to the business at 36, rue Beauvoisine. They separated in 1848, and Jeandel worked at 51, quai de Paris till 1878, when his health failed, and he was admitted into the “hospice general” of Rouen, Dec. 27, 1878.
He was a clever workman, and his instruments are well made and have a good tone; he used red varnish.
Awards: bronze medal, Rouen, 1854 ; 1st class medal, Paris, 1855; silver medal, Rouen, 1856.

Willibald Leo Lütgendorff

Schüler von Charotte in Mirecourt. Trat 1835 bei dem Bruder seines Lehrmeisters
in Rouen ein und übernahm 1836 nach dessen Tode mit Lucien Delau
das Geschäft. 1848 trat er aus der Firma aus und eröffnete am Quai de Paris
No. 51 seine Werkstatt und ist mehrfach ausgezeichnet worden. Hübsche
Modelle, rother Lack. Leider fehlte ihm der verdiente materielle Erfolg in
seinen alten Tagen; durch den Tod seiner Tochter hilflos geworden, wurde er
am 27. Dec. 1878 im Hospital aufgenommen, wo er wenige Monate später starb.
