POLLASTRI, Gaetano Born 1886, died 1960 Bologna Italy. Brother and pupil of Augusto Pollastri. Joined his brother after military service in the artillery and succeeded to the business 1927. Distinguished maker and restorer. Founder member of the Italian Association of Luthiers (ANLAI). Assisted by his son Cesare, above, and several others including F. Albanelli, A. Guerra, M. Dobretsovitch, and O. Bignami. Highly refined work very similar to that of Augusto. Several fine copies of inlaid Stradivari violins. Similar brand of two cockerels.
