John Dilworth

PRAGA, Eugenio Born 1847 Casal Monferrato, died 1901 Genoa Italy. Violin and bow maker, initially self-taught, Worked with N. Bianchi from 1869 and succeeded to his business 1878. Medals awarded in Turin 1884 and Genoa 1892. Important figure in the development of the 20th century Genoese school. Authenticated examples relatively rare: copies of various classical instruments, including an imitation of the Guarneri del Gesù ‘Cannone’ violin, which is now housed alongside the original in the Museum of Genoa.
