WOLFF Gebruder; Leopold and Ferdinand Worked circa. 1864-1914 Kreuznach Germany. Musicians and instrument dealers. Established a factory in 1864. Many instruments exported to England and labelled as if made there. Good professional work on Stradivari models. Patented a mute practice violin in 1888 made from a simple mahogany frame without back or front plates. The business was continued 1912-1914 by Leopold’s son Julius after the death of the brothers, and after Julius’ demise World War I by his widow. Finally taken over by Fritz Mansbacher 1922.
