BARTON, George Worked circa. 1761-1810 London UK. Established at Wych Street 1776-1794, 23 Shoemaker Row 1794-1801, and lastly at the ‘Star’ in Elliot Court, Old Bailey. Maker of instruments to the trade. Possibly taught by John Carter, a neighbour in his first address in Wych Street. Undistinguished work, although perfectly decent in model and execution. Poor dull brown varnish. Some eccentric models and types also found. George Barton / Elliot Court / Old Bailey
