Initially known as Husson, Buthod et Thibouville. A large workforce produced some 1250 instruments annually. Later became Thibouville-Lamy, with Buthod as Director. Three grades of work, all on Stradivari models. Various varnish tints, often shaded in antique style. Fine silver-mounted bows stamped: ‘Buthod A Paris’ Buthod Luthier / Élève de Vuillaume à Paris

Cecie Stainer+

A maker of cheap instruments in Mirecourt. Worked under Vuillaume for some time. In 1839 was awarded a bronze medal. His violins are strongly made and are much used in orchestras and Conservatoires.
About 800 violins, 40 altos, and 50 basses were turned out of his workshop each year. Later, went into partnership with Husson, and the business gradually developed into a trade in instruments of all kinds becoming ” Husson, Buthod et Thibouville.”
